The Computer Science Association is the foremost body in School of Technology and Applied Sciences which composes of the all students of the department which includes the students from all MCA batch and MSc CE & NT batch students. The origin of the association can be traced back to the time when MCA course started at STAS.

AIM

The overall aim of this association is to enhance the knowledge and skills of the students in the areas of modern technological trends and  ever-changing world of Computers & Information Technology thus carving out the future career achievers.

OBJECTIVES

  • Award Meritorious students for their achievements.
  • Organize National level seminars, technical paper contests etc.
  • Help and encourage participation of the members in various national, international  and Inter Collegiate level competitive examinations and Contests.
  • Conduct INTRA - Collegiate contests and fests.

MEMBERSHIP

All the students of MCA & M.Sc CE & NT  of STAS, Pullarikunnu can join the Computer Science Association  by paying a one-time membership fee to Association Fund.

ACTIVITY SNIPPETS

The Following are snippets from the activities of the Associations from beginning till today.

CYBER FEST (The INTER Collegiate I.T fiesta )

It is the first of its kind Inter Collegiate I.T festival in Kerala which is held annually by the staff and student members of the Computer Science department in Kottayam City.

When the festive was held for the first time in 98-99,it was the first of it's kind, aiming at bringing together IT veterans and consummate industrialists, who in spite of their busy schedule, was always willing to share their views and experiences with the audience. The futurologists did captivate a large audience, who attended the seminars presented by them on stage. Scholars from various academes across the State attended the 2-day fest. The contests conducted by the Computer Science Association of the institution inspired students to recover their talents. The festive turned out to be a chance success, which at the time, seemed unlikely to be repeated.

CRESCENT ( The INTRA Collegiate I.T Fest )

This is an Intra Collegiate I.T Fest which is conducted by the Association to enhance the organizing and leadership skills of the students of the department to train them for the Major I.T Fiesta. The Crescent is considered as a  precursor to the Major event the Cyber Fest. The main events in the Crescent are  I.T Quiz, Word Hunt, Marketing Contest.

COMPUTER LITERACY PROGRAMME( October 2 )

The Association conducted a 1 day Computer Literacy programme for the  people dwelling around the college on October 2nd 2004 with teaching classes introducing the working of a computers, Using the Internet organized by student volunteers and the faculty members of the department. The teaching classes were accompanied by Hardware expo  introducing enthusiastic people to inner electronics of the Computer.

The Literacy programme was officially inaugurated by the former Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University in the presence of Director, STAS Dr K.A Jose and  various other dignitaries.
